The Maine House has voted (87-51) in favor of LD 289, and the Senate will vote next on this bill (LD 289) that would ban polystyrene foam food containers statewide. Polystyrene foam is a nuisance that pollutes our lands and waters and threatens wildlife. NRCM believes the state should follow the lead of more than a dozen Maine towns that have already banned foam food containers and moved to more environmentally friendly, cost-effective alternatives.
Tell your State Senator that you support LD 289, An Act To Prohibit the Use of Certain Disposable Food Service Containers now! Help us protect our lands, waters, and animals from this unnecessary and wasteful product.
