Dear Friend of NRCM,

Maine is the first state in the country to move in such an extreme anti-solar direction. We have pushed for a stronger solar policy in Maine for two years. Now, the Public Utilities Commission has moved to gut the one solar policy we do have - net metering.

Solar power is good for the earth, good for our economy, and good for our future.

Your donation today  will support the outreach, education, legal, and legislative work needed to push forward on all of NRCM's critical initiatives, such as clean, renewable solar energy in Maine.

Your gift will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, by two other generous donors! Please help meet the match by December 31st.

Through member support, we are effectively safeguarding our rivers, forests, air, and lakes in Maine. Here are some of our accomplishments from the past year:

  • Passed the strongest metal mining law in the country that bans open-pit metal mining and the storage of wet mine waste that can leak into water bodies. It also requires metal mining companies to provide upfront funding for the massive costs generally associated with a mining “spill.”
  • Expanded the Bottle Bill to include “nips.” These small liquor containers are littering Maine’s landscape and we know from our excellent success with bottle redemption over the past 40 years that a redemption fee will help directly address the problem.
  • Reduced plastics in our oceans and landfills by regulating or banning plastic bags and foam containers in a growing number of Maine communities.
  • Protected 600,000 acres of Public Reserved Lands in Maine with passage of a law to ensure a sustainable harvest and improve recreational opportunities.

With you by our side, we will add clean, renewable solar power to this list of accomplishments. The nature of Maine needs you now more than ever. Please make a donation today.

With gratitude,
