Once again, President Donald Trump and Acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler are putting the health of Maine’s people and environment at risk. This time they’re taking the first step to sabotage safeguards that protect us from dangerous mercury and toxic pollution from power plants. We know that mercury pollution is dangerous – and the Environmental Protection Agency itself agrees.
If this proposal moves forward, it could lead to 130,000 additional annual asthma attacks, up to 11,000 annual premature deaths, and 5,700 more annual hospital visits. And the reality is no one wants this—not even power companies.
We can’t afford to stay silent – there’s too much on the line. Make your voice heard in support of strong mercury pollution standards – submit a public comment to the EPA.
Encourage your friends to take action against weakening our Mercury and Air Toxics Standards!
Thank you for taking action to oppose weakening mercury pollution standards. Please share this action with your friends on social media using the links on this page and ask them to submit their comments to the Environmental Protection Agency as well.
