Take Action: Help Protect the Moosehead Lake Region
Send a message to the LUPC to guide decisions about development and conservation in the Moosehead region.
The Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) is collecting public comment on four discussion maps, which are different suggestions for how the LUPC might plan for new development and protected areas in the Moosehead region.
Your input on these maps is important and will help guide decisions about where to locate development and which areas to protect. Use the form on the right to send a message to the LUPC!
We're asking the LUPC to:
Focus development near town centers to avoid sprawl and habitat fragmentation, and support smart economic growth in existing towns.
Designate zoning for protection at places with high-value habitat for fish and wildlife or top-notch recreational opportunities.
Remove the townships of Sapling, Lily Bay, and Indian Stream from the primary and secondary locations because they are not appropriate for development
Protect Blue Ridge from development and industrial activity because of its visibility from many vantage points around the lake, including Mount Kineo.
Use the form below to send a message to the LUPC.
Personalizing the message with what you love about the Moosehead region will make it more effective.
Sorry, this action is only available for Maine residents.
