Mining is one of the most dangerous industrial activities. Here in Maine it’s especially dangerous due to high levels of sulfide that, when exposed to air and water, create acid that kills fish and other aquatic wildlife. An Ontario-based company, Wolfden Resources, has applied to rezone land to mine zinc, lead, and copper on 528 acres at Pickett Mountain near Baxter State Park and the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. Please Join NRCM for a Zoom webinar to learn how you can help us oppose this dangerous mining proposal.
